Artist Bio
Christie Grant is a printmaker who specialises in Lino cut relief printing. Working with traditional battleship grey linoleum, Christie’s illustrations are heavily influenced by the ascetics of the Victorian art nouveau design, macabre Grimm's fairytales and whimsical folklore tales.

Each time Christie sits down to carve they use Swiss-made Pfeil V and U shape gouging tools to delicately cut away to the surface of the lino block to create intricately detailed images. After the block has been carved they are inked up using traditional oil-based inks. Christie always mixes colours by hand and believes limiting yourself to the primary colours is an important practice in colour theory to encourage more thought into what colours are used, and how it affects the imagery and allows them to put more consideration into the colours selected for each work.
After the colours are mixed and lino is inked up they are printed through a cold press laminator that is converted for printmaking. Recently christie has taken an interest in the restoration of old printing presses and has acquired an Adana high-speed 2 and a Cropperette.
Christie is very conscientious of preserving the historical practice of printmaking and does the most to encourage others to become enthusiastic about print by Implementing it in their teaching sessions funded by different charity programs.
